BACKGROUND

Eugene Silverman has spent more than three decades reading the college football betting market — first as a recreational bettor who got tired of losing to sharper rooms, then as a disciplined handicapper who decided to learn exactly how the sharp side thinks.

His method is unglamorous and relentless: power ratings, matchup tape, roster and injury context, and above all line movement. He treats the closing line as the source of truth and measures his own record against it, week after week, season after season.

Eugene launched this magazine to bring order to a noisy market. The expert room is large — Covers, SportsLine, Action Network, The Athletic and more — but only published, attributable selections earn a place in the Gold, Silver and Hail Mary tiers. No invented consensus. No erased losses.

METHODOLOGY

Bet the number, not the name

Public money inflates favorites. Eugene's edge lives on the underdog side — where the public is wrong often enough to pay for the times it's right.

Respect line movement

A sharp push of 1.5 points or more before kickoff tells you where the real money is going. The closing line is the only honest judge of a market's truth.

No invented consensus

Gold, Silver and Hail Mary tiers are built only from published, attributable selections. If a pick can't be verified, it doesn't become a lock — full stop.

Grade everything

Every published pick is graded against the closing number and logged, wins and losses. The long-run record is the only metric that matters.

"Bet the number, not the name. The public remembers the team; the market remembers the price. My job is to be on the right side of the price more weeks than I'm not."
